Description

Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or is a Highland Single Malt Whisky finished in ex-Sauternes cask wine bottles. Sauternes is a sweet, white dessert wine from the Bordeaux wine-growing region of France and is characterised by its  sweet, honey, citrus, peach and apricot notes and aromas and the cask lend all of these naunces to the finished whisky. There are three other whiskies in Glenmorangie’s core range the Sherry Cask finished Lasanta, the Port Cask finished Quinta Ruban and the Original 10 Year Old.

Glenmorangie can trace its origins back to 1843 (although it is claimed that alcoholic drinks of some sort have been made in the area since the middle ages). There was a brewery on the site in the 1700s that used to brew using water from the famous Tarlogie springs that Glenmorangie use today. However the site did not become a distillery until it was purchased by William Matheson in 1843 who installed some old gin stills. Today the distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (who also own Ardbeg in Islay) and is recognised as one of the the top luxury Scotch whisky brands.

Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or is firstly aged in ex Bourbon casks for a number of years prior to a period of extra maturation in ex Sauternes wine barriques. These rare casks bring layers of mellow sweetness to Glenmorangie’s renowned smooth style. Non chill-filtered for enhanced aroma and texture. Bottled as a non age statement whiskey at 46% ABV.
