Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru Domaine Latour is a red Burgundy made from carefully selected parcels of Pinot Noir sourced from two of Latour’s own Beaune Premier Cru Vineyards: “Les Perrières” and “Clos du Roi”.
The Latour family have long been established in Burgundy’s wine trade. They began as vine growers in the village of Aloxe-Corton as early as 1768 and went on to establish today’s business, Maison Louis Latour, in 1797. Today, Latour is one of the region’s most famous names, creating premium Burgundy wines from their 50-hectare domaine in the Côte d’Or as well as from grapes and wines purchased through the negociant arm of the business.
The company has now been in family ownership for 11 generations and, since 2022, has been managed by Florent Latour. He is ably supported by master winemaker Jean Charles Thomas, winemaker Nathalie Bobard and domaine director and winemaker Christophe Deola.
When you see Domaine Latour on a bottle of Louis Latour wine, it means that the grapes come from vineyards owned by the family. The family vineyards cover approximately 48 hectares, including 27 hectares of Grand Cru, the largest holding of Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. The domaine is centred around the village of Aloxe-Corton. All of the “Domaine” wines are vinified, bottled and matured at the historic winery in Aloxe-Corton, Corton Grancey Cuverie.
The vineyard of Beaune faces east and sits above the city of Beaune itself. As mentioned above, the grapes for the Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru Domaine Latour come from two premier cru vineyards, Les Perrières 1er Cru and Clos du Roi 1er Cru.
The vines have an average age of 40 years and are planted on clay / limestone and chalk soils. The vines are managed in the traditional method by the Louis Latour team, which performs strict pruning to produce later harvests, thereby ensuring a good degree of maturity in the grapes. The relatively old vines in these vineyards produce a wine with good cellaring potential.

Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru, Domaine Latour exhibits a deep ruby colour, revealing a nose of roasted almond. Its palate is round and fresh, with prominent blackcurrant and spicy aromas. The tannins are very pleasant, contributing to a well-balanced mouthfeel, and the wine offers nice persistence on the finish.
This red Burgundy is great with game birds, duck breast, poultry dishes, Beef Bourguignon and mature cheeses.
