Louis Jadot Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru

  • The grapes for the Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc are destemmed before fermentation.
  • Fermentation takes place in open tanks and lasts 25 to 33 days.
  • The wine is aged in oak barrels for 15 months before bottling.
  • One third of the barrels used are new oak.

Beaune Bressandes Vineyard

The Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru is situated at the North of the vineyard, at the top of the slope above Les Toussaints and Les Cents Vignes and next to Les Grèves. It is considered to be one of the finest white Premiers Crus. The Beaune vineyards are the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, between Savigny to the North and Pommard to the South. There are no Grand Cru vineyards in this commune, but 36 Premiers Crus.

Maison Louis Jadot: A Burgundy Icon

Maison Louis Jadot is one of the largest and most respected négociants and producers in Burgundy. Its story began in 1859 when Louis Henry Denis Jadot founded the house in Beaune, building on family vineyard holdings dating back even earlier, including the iconic Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules, acquired in 1826.

Over the decades, Louis Jadot has carefully assembled an exceptional portfolio of vineyards across some of the region’s most prestigious sites, such as Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and many other celebrated climats. Today, the house owns or directly controls approximately 140 hectares in the Côte d’Or (across more than 90 individual vineyard sites), around 84 to 90 hectares in the Beaujolais Crus (notably Château des Jacques), and 18 hectares in the Mâconnais, primarily in Pouilly-Fuissé through the outstanding Domaine Ferret, which it has owned since 2008.

Jadot & The Gagey Family

The business has long been shaped by the Gagey family. André Gagey was entrusted with its management in 1962 following the sudden death of Louis Auguste Jadot. His son, Pierre-Henry Gagey, joined in 1985, served as President from 1992 until his retirement in 2022/early 2023, and remains a passionate advocate for terroir-driven winemaking that captures the true essence of Burgundy. Wines from vineyards owned by the Gagey family are labelled as Domaine Gagey. The house is now led by President Thomas Seiter, with Thibault Gagey (Pierre-Henry’s son) serving as Managing Director.

Tasting Notes

Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc has a vivacious acidity balanced by rich aromas and flavours of white fruit, spice and toast. The wine will develop in the bottle for 12 to 15 years after the vintage.
