Boutari Nouassa is a dry Greek red wine from the Nouassa region of Greece and is considered to be the best area for Xinomavro production (there is talk of development of a cru system). The Boutari Winery is situated in the historical region of Mantinia and it is one of the oldest wineries in the region. In recent years the winery has been expanded and still undergoes constant modernisation. It was founded by entrepreneur John Boutari in 1979 in Nouassa and remains in the Boutari family to this day. The family now owns 6 wineries in Greece including the orginal Nouassa winery. Boutari Nouassa is a landmark wine as it is the first red wine bottled as a VQPRD to be sold on the Greek market. It is made from 100% Xinomavro grapes which are aged for 12 months in French Limousin and Allier oak barrels.
