Ron Millonario Solera 15 Year Old Reserva Especial Rum is derived from sugar cane molasses.

The company can trace its beginnings back to 1904 when the Hacienda Agrícola de Chiclayo was founded in Chiclayo a small settlement between the sea and the mountains known as the ‘city of friendship.’ This was a cooperative set up by local farmers who built a small sugar refinery to sell their sugar. It was not until 1938 when a Scottish column still was imported that the cooperative entered into the rum distillation business with Ron Millonario first being released in 1950.

After careful selection the sugar cane molasses, goes through the watchful process of fermentation, distillation and ageing, bringing together old and modern techniques, and uniting art, science and tradition. Years of careful observation and selection have given rise to perfectly adapted yeasts that slowly convert the molasses into alcohol giving the rum its characteristic bouquet.

Ron Millonario 15 Year old Solera Especial is aged distilled in three old Scottish column stills and thereafter goes through a kind of solera ageing system using cask made of American and Slavonian oak. Four rows of the solera system are employed, and after fifteen years of ageing the rums are blended. Every bottle of the Ron Millonario Solera 15 Reserva Especial comes attractively wrapped in Toquilla straw, the very same used to make the celebrated Panama hat.
