Niepoort White Port is a Port made from white grapes, this is a medium dry style compared to its much dryer sibling the Niepoort Rabbit Dry White.
White Port is made in exactly the same way as red Port but is simply made with white grapes. The grapes for the Niepoort White Port undergo a long skin maceration, occasionally with foot treading in lagares. Following fortification with grape brandy, which stops the fermentation, the wine spends one year ageing in large old oak vats, prior to at least three years in 550 Litre oak barrels known as Pipes.
Niepoort White Port is classic style of white Port, with oxidative handling and good extraction from prolonged skin maceration. The grapes used to make Niepoort White Port are Côdega, Rabigato, Viosinho, Arinto Gouveio and others.
