Tosolini Dolce Vita Aperitivo is a classic Italian Aperitivo with lovely rhubarb and orange flavours. It is a great alternative to Aperol or Campari in a Spritz or Negroni cocktail. Named after the vibrant, sociable spirit of the Italian “Dolce Vita” lifestyle, this bittersweet aperitif was launched in 2022. Available to buy now at Fareham Wine Cellar.
The history of Tosolini begins after World War II, when Bepi Tosolini dedicated himself to perfecting the art of Grappa production. The distillery is located at the foot of the eastern Friulian hills, and Tosolini’s modern facility maintains its original installations and ensures the authenticity of its product.
The art inspired by Bepi Tosolini lives on in his successors, now third-generation distillers. His son Giovanni, along with his grandchildren Giuseppe, Bruno and Lisa, now carry on the Tosolini legacy. As well as their fantastic Grappa, they also make fantastic liqueurs, including a great Limoncello and their superb Saliza Amaretto.
Tosolini Dolce Vita Aperitivo is a brilliant mix of herbs, roots, sweet spices and Vermouth. Of course, the exact recipe remains a family secret, but the 100% natural botanicals (no essences used here!) include:
Compared to Aperol, Tosolini Dolce Vita Aperitivo has a richer, more complex flavour profile with a less aggressive bitterness, making it a refined alternative for spritzes. It also stands out against Campari for its subtler, more balanced bitterness and unique rhubarb and saffron notes.
Do you know about Aperitivo hour, or “l’ora dell’aperitivo”? This is a cherished Italian tradition that takes place in the early evening, typically between 6 and 8 pm. It is a social and leisurely time when friends, colleagues, and family gather to relax, unwind, and enjoy a drink or two before dinner. During aperitivo hour, many bars and cafes in Italy offer a special aperitivo menu or buffet, known as “aperitivo alla Italiana.” This spread often includes a variety of small bites, such as olives, cheese, cured meats, bruschetta, crostini, and other appetisers. The selection may vary depending on the establishment, with some places offering more elaborate spreads than others. Italians also enjoy aperitivo at home, hosting friends and family for drinks and light snacks before a meal.
