Description

G. Miclo Vieux Kirsch d’Alsace Eau de Vie Grande Réserve is a premium Alsatian kirsch (cherry brandy) produced by the renowned Distillerie Miclo. Made from carefully selected black cherries and aged for a minimum of four years, this elegant fruit brandy offers intense cherry aromas, remarkable purity and exceptional depth of flavour.

Kirsch is one of the classic Alsace eaux-de-vie, distilled from fermented cherries to produce a clear, aromatic spirit that perfectly captures the character of the fruit.

G. Miclo Vieux Kirsch d’Alsace Eau de Vie Grande Réserve

G. Miclo Vieux Kirsch d’Alsace Eau de Vie Grande Réserve is a fruit brandy produced by the fermentation and subsequent distillation of sweet black semi-wild cherries with small stones.

To be classified as a Grande Réserve, an Alsace eau-de-vie must be aged for a minimum of four years.

Only the finest batches are selected to become Vieux Kirsch Grande Réserve, resulting in a more complex and refined spirit. By comparison, the distillery’s standard Kirsch Tradition is typically aged for around two years.

Extended ageing allows the spirit to develop a smoother texture, deeper fruit flavours and greater aromatic complexity.

Distillerie Miclo – Since 1965

Distillerie Miclo was founded by Gilbert Miclo in 1965 in Alsace and is located in the Alsatian village of Lapoutroie.

He succeeded his father as head of the family company in 1962. At that time, the business traded in wines, eaux-de-vie and beers. The decision was then made to produce their own fruit brandies and to focus exclusively on products of the very highest quality.

The company quickly became well known, and by 1972, Miclo had 50 agents selling its products throughout France. Miclo also attracted the attention of master pâtissiers, who sought the purest fruit brandies to flavour their fine pastries and desserts.

New Distilleries in 1977 and 1985

In 1977, a new distillery was built, housing four stills and 36 stainless-steel tanks for macerating fruit and ageing the brandies.

In 1985, Miclo purchased an additional distillery in Alsace and further expanded its range of products.

Today, under the stewardship of Gilbert Miclo’s grandson Bertrand Miclo, the distillery uses more than 2,000 tonnes of fresh fruit each year and produces around 200,000 bottles of brandies, liqueurs, fruit crème liqueurs, vodka, whisky and aperitifs annually.
