Description

Briottet Liqueur de Kumquat is a colourless kumquat liqueur created by Maison Edmond Briottet. This 18% ABV gem captures the vibrant spirit of these tiny citrus fruits through the meticulous maceration of fresh kumquats in premium neutral alcohol.  The result is an exceptionally delicate, authentic citrus liqueur, perfect for cocktails and bursting with zesty, bright notes of tangy-sweet kumquat, subtle bitterness and a clean, refreshing finish.

Maison Briottet: Established 1836

Maison Briottet is a family business, founded in 1836, and has been run by the 6th generation of the Briottet family, Claire and Vincent, since 2014. The Maison is located in the centre of the town of Dijon in the Burgundy wine-growing region. Originally, the family were negociants of Burgundy wine, involved with ageing, blending, bottling and selling the wines. Following the development and massive popularity of the Blanc Cassis Aperitif (white wine with Crème de Cassis also known as a Kir), in the 1900s, the company progressively focused its activities on producing fruit crèmes, liquors, brandies and Marcs de Bourgogne.

Briottet Liqueur de Kumquat: Only The Finest Ingredients

Maison Briottet maintains a very high level of quality. It is the selection of the ripest fruit, locally sourced where possible, from the most suitable cultivars that provides for the finest flavours. The first step on the ladder in the process is contracting the right growers to produce the finest, best-quality, ripe fruit. Then, at the headquarters, the fruits undergo carefully observed maceration with very pure neutral alcohol and blending with the correct proportion of sugars to achieve the balance between fruit flavour, sweetness, acidity and alcohol to create top of the range crèmes and liqueurs.

Kumquat Liqueur: Great For Cocktails

Briottet Liqueur de Kumquat is far more nuanced than conventional Triple Sec or Curaçao; it brings a refined, natural citrus elegance to cocktails. It serves as the perfect, more sophisticated substitute while shining brilliantly on its own, over ice, or in creative mixes.

What Is A Kumquat?

The kumquat is a small citrus fruit, often called one of the “little gold gems” of the citrus family. It is native to Southeast Asia, particularly China, and its name derives from Cantonese for “golden orange.” It is the smallest citrus fruit, a relative of the mandarin, and has perfectly edible skin. The peel is surprisingly sweet and aromatic, while the juicy flesh inside is tart, tangy, and slightly sour, creating a burst of sweet-tart flavour in every bite. They are normally between 2 cm and 5 cm long and are used in marmalades, jellies, cocktails, or as a zesty addition to salads and desserts.
