Description

Domaine Carneros Avant Garde Pinot Noir is made in the Napa Valley in a joint venture between Champagne Taittinger and the Kobrand Corporation (one of the largest wine companies in the USA).

A Champagne Taittinger Project

Claude Taittinger had been searching for an opportunity to make wine in the USA since the 1970s. In 1987, he eventually selected this 138-hectare estate in the heart of the Carneros wine-growing region as the place he would produce quality sparkling wine and Pinot Noir.

Today, the winery is a leader in sustainable practices, certified by Napa Green, California Certified Sustainable Winegrowing, and Fish Friendly Farming. It also boasts one of the largest solar arrays at a winery, installed in 2003.

Sparkling Wines and Pinot Noirs

Domaine Carneros produces a range of styles, specialising in sparkling wines crafted using the traditional Champagne method,  from the classic vintage-dated Brut to the luxurious Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs, often hailed as one of America’s finest sparkling wines.

Organically Certified Pinot Noir

Their Pinot Noirs are also highly regarded, with offerings like the Estate Pinot Noir and The Famous Gate. All wines are sourced exclusively from their Carneros vineyards, which are known for their cool climate, ideal for slow-ripening grapes that yield balanced acidity and complex flavours.

Domaine Carneros farms grapes in four different vineyard sites and uses different grape clones to produce different flavours and intensity in their wines. In April 2008, Domaine Carneros received organic certification of all its estate vineyards by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).

Domaine Carneros Avant Garde Pinot Noir Winemaking

The fruit for the Domaine Carneros Avant Garde Pinot Noir is sourced from all four Domaine Carneros vineyards in the rolling hills of Carneros. The wine is fermented in small open-topped tanks and then aged for 10 months in Burgundian French oak barrels from cooperages that are specially selected to complement the aroma and flavour profile of this wine.
