Description

Simon Hackett Old Vine Grenache is a red wine made from Grenache grapes sourced from the Big Rivers wine-growing zone of Australia which covers the southwestern corner of the state of New South Wales.

Hackett wines was founded by Simon Hackett. Simon Hackett was born and raised in the Barossa Valley where his family have been connected with the wine trade for many generations. – four generations of the Hackett family followed agricultural pursuits in South Australia. Simon Hackett worked at Saltram’s, in the Barossa, before moving to McLaren Vale in 1973 where he cut his teeth working at Southern Vales Cooperative Winery (now Tatachilla) eventually becoming senior wine maker.

He grapes for the Simon Hackett Old Vine Grenache are specially selected from small parcels of vines from South Eastern Australia. The vines are carefully cultivated with low yields producing intensely-flavoured grapes of outstanding quality. The Big Rivers is a  GI (Geographical Indication) created in 1996 and the four wine-making regions in the Big Rivers zone are Murray Darling, Perricoota, Riverina and Swan Hill.

Simon Hackett Old Vine Grenache is 100% Grenache.
