Champagne Forget-Brimont Brut Nature Zéro Dosage is a pure and precise expression of Champagne, crafted without any added sugar to showcase the true character of its terroir. This elegant zero dosage champagne offers exceptional freshness, fine bubbles, and a striking mineral profile, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a pure, low-calorie expression of Champagne or lovers of bone-dry, mineral-driven sparkling wines
This wine is made from only the fruit sourced from the very best terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, including:
• Premier Cru: Ludes, Chigny-les-Roses, Montbré, Taissy
• Grand Cru: Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay, Verzy
The blend consists of:
Somewhere between 40% and 50% of reserve wines are used in the blend to ensure added roundness, complexity and consistency. These chalk-rich soils and ideal growing conditions contribute to the wine’s freshness, finesse, and distinctive mineral character.
Champagne Forget-Brimont is a small Champagne producer located in the village of Ludes. 6th Generation Champenoise Michel Forget is the co-owner and winemaker. The estate can trace its origins back to the early 19th century when Michel’s ancestor, Louis, first planted vineyards in the area. The Champagne Forget-Brimont brand was officially established in 1920 by another relative, Eugène. In 2000, Michel partnered with Frédéric Jorez to ensure the continuation of Forget-Brimont as an independent Champagne House.
The company owns 19 hectares of vineyards in the Montagne de Reims with Grand Cru vineyards at Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay and Verzy, and Premier Cru vineyards at Chigny-Les-Roses, Ludes, Montbré, Sermiers, Taissy and Villers-Allerand. Pinot Noir is their most planted grape variety. Although Champagne Forget-Brimont owns vineyards, it also buys grapes from other local growers. They are therefore classified as a Négociant Manipulant (NM) producer.
Champagne Forget-Brimont’s Cellars are dug out of the chalky soils (that Champagne is famous for) to a depth of 15 metres. This means that the cellars are at a constant temperature of 11°C in both summer and winter, the optimum ageing conditions for Champagne, creating fine bubbles and incomparable perlage.
Colour: A luminous golden colour with fine, long-lasting bubbles.
Nose: Refined and expressive, showing precise aromas of bright citrus layered with a subtle saline edge.
Palate: Elegant and complex, with vibrant tension and a mineral core, leading to fresh notes of grapefruit and crisp white fruits on the finish.
Champagne Forget-Brimont Brut Nature Zéro Dosage is a great aperitif. It is also a perfect match for seafood, from oysters and raw fish to shellfish, sea urchins, and caviar. It also pairs effortlessly with Japanese cuisine, enhancing dishes such as sushi, maki, and sashimi.
Some of the sharper-eyed amongst you may have noticed that this Champagne is labelled as both Brut Nature and Zéro Dosage.
They are basically interchangeable terms for the driest champagne style with 0 to 3 g/L of residual sugar and no sugar added during disgorgement. It is also known as “Pas Dosé”, “Brut Sauvage” or “Dosage Zéro”.
Whilst no sugar is added, a “natural” residual sugar amount of approximately 1 to 2 g/L may remain from fermentation, which is why the range is 0 to 3 g/L rather than just zero.
These dry Champagnes are characterised by high acidity, immense freshness, minerality, and a “raw” or “naked” expression of the fruit and terroir.
