Description

Terrazas de los Andes Chardonnay is made from grapes harvested from terraced vineyards, known at the Tupungato Terrace, located at 12oo metres above sea level in the Mendoza wine-growing region.

Terrazas de los Andes is owned by luxury goods giant Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) and they are the largest landowner in Vistalba, the world’s top Malbec district. We also own other vineyards in the Mendoza region (Tupungato, and Perdriel) and in Cafayate (Salta region), known for producing the best Torrontés in the world. They have an excellent vinticultural and winemaking team in place. This range of wines are made with an extensive focus on vineyard management, these wines stand out for their aromatic intensity and complex style.

The Chardonnay vineyards are located in the southern part of Mendoza in Caicayen, Tupungato. Terrazas’ vineyards here are dedicated to Chardonnay grapes. The soils here are alluvial, shallow and sandy. The climate is dry with significant variation between day and night temperature (some 16c) in the summer months, this enable the grapes to lock in all the aromas and flavors the plants produce during the warm daylight hours. Due to the very dry climate, Terrazas use drip irrigation in the vineyard which is a natural irrigation using water from snow melt from the Andes. After harvest and vinification the wine is aged for 9 months in French oak (100% new).
