Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon

Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Bourbon has had a bit of a face lift. The new label is the one on the right. I know yo can’t tell very well in my photograph but I think it looks a bit cleaner and bit smarter, mainly because the label almost mimics the shape of the bottle.

This Bourbon is made by Heaven Hill Distillers who are the largest, independent  and family-owned producer and marketer of spirits in the USA. Heaven Hill is located in Bardstown, Kentucky where they have the second largest holding of Bourbon Whiskey in the world with over 675,000 barrels ageing in 42 open-rick warehouses. By law, Bourbon must be made up of at least 51% corn and be aged a minimum of two years in a new charred white oak barrel, standards that were pioneered by early Bourbon makers such as Evan Williams and Rev. Elijah Craig.

Press Review – “Surprisingly light and delicate on the nose, some grass, mint, citrus and vanilla with just a touch of cocoa. Toffee, malt and rye in the mouth, a touch of dried fruit, spice and burnt sugar with a long complex finish. “It is a bourbon of almost unfathomable depth and has something for everyone. Brilliant.” Jim Murray
News update – America’s largest family-owned independent takes 8 medals at the nation’s foremost spirits competition, including “Best Rye Whiskey” – via Heaven Hill Distilleries – Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey and other Fine Spirits.
