Description

KTW Guramishvili’s Murani Chinuri is a dry white Georgian wine. It is produced from Chinuri grapes sourced from the Saguramo Valley in the Kartli region. As opposed to the KWT Iveria range, the Guramishvili’s Murani range of wines focuses on rarer grapes varieties.

Founded in 2015, Guramishvili’s Marani is cellar owned and operated by Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking (KWT) It is the historical cellars of Thadeoz Guramishvili which KWT rebuilt. The Guramishvili’s Marani winery is located in the historic Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia, just north of the capital Tbilisi near the Caucasus Mountains.

KWT is one of the largest wine and spirit producing companies in Georgia and the Caucasus region. The company was founded in 2001 and aims to preserve the history and traditional techniques (the use of earthenware amphora, called qvevri) of Georgian wine-making whilst also merging them with modern winemaking and innovation. KTW works with over 50 different indigenous grape varieties comprising 600 hectares of vineyards located in many different wine-growing regions of Georgia and produces many styles of wine including white, red and the famous semi-sweet red styles. Often regarded as “the birthplace of wine”, Georgia has over 500 native grape varieties.

KTW Guramishvili’s Murani Chinuri is made from 100% Chinuri grapes. This grape variety is also known as Kaspuri and used to be also known as Chinebuli which means “excellent” in the Georgian language. The grapes undergo a cool fermentation and the wine is aged for 9 months in oak barrels.
