Meon Valley Cider Dry “Dragonfly” is a new release for summer 2017. It is a refreshingly dry cider and follows on from Meon Valley Cider’s inaugural, summer 2016, release of the “Chalk Stream” Medium Cider. Meon Valley Cider is a small craft cider producer founded by Nigel Johnson and are located in West Meon.
Meon Valley Dragonfly Dry cider is made with a selection of apples which are grown locally in Hampshire and Sussex with some West Country bittersweet apples. The apples are hand-pressed, the juice is cold fermented and the cider is bottled near West Meon. The local apples include the varieties Ashmeads Kernel, Cox and Bramley.
In keeping with the Chalk Stream label, the label for the dry cider features a Dragonfly, a common site around the chalk streams of Hampshire. Bottled at 6% abv.
Meon Valley Dragonfly Dry cider is honey coloured with a wildflower nose and almond notes. It has really refreshing, clean fresh apple flavours and a lingering dry sherbet finish due to the bittersweets.
