Cigar Profile:
Camacho Corojo Robusto cigars are a classic robusto-sized cigar with a length of 5 inches and a 50 ring gauge. This is a full-bodied and flavoursome, complex cigar with a dark Honduran wrapper, binder and filler. It is renowned for its intense, “Cubanesque” flavour profile derived from authentic original Corojo tobacco
Camacho Cigars is based in the city of Danli, Honduras. The company was founded in 1962 by Simon Camacho. Simon was an exile from Cuba who eventually established the Camacho cigar brand in Miami, Florida. The cigar business flourished and by the 1990s was making 2 to 3 million cigars per year. Camacho was bought by the Eiroa family in 1995 (they produced brands such as CLE, Eiroa and 25th Anniversary. The brand has been owned by the Oettinger Davidoff Group since 2008.
The tobacco for this Camacho Corojo Robusto Cigar all comes from the premier tobacco growing region of the Jamastran Valley in Honduras. Corojo is a specific variety of tobacco plant, originally Cuban, known for its spicy and peppery character.
This cigar is all about bold, unapologetic flavour, marketed as Camacho’s “Original Bold Smoke.” It’s not for beginners; expect a powerful, spicy experience with excellent construction. Look out for the bright red and black branding.
Fareham Wine Cellar also sells Camacho Ecuador and Camacho Connecticut robustos.
The Camacho Corojo Robusto delivers a spicy, peppery kick right from the start, evolving into a complex and robust smoke that captivates throughout.
The cold draw offers earthy molasses with subtle spice and hints of red pepper, setting the stage for a bold first third dominated by black pepper, salt, earth, leather, and charred wood, accented by a teasing sweetness.
In the midsection, it builds to full strength, introducing roasted nuts, cedar, cocoa, and sweet earth while the spice remains prominent yet balanced with woody and leathery notes.
The final third intensifies the pepper, joined by coffee, bittersweet chocolate, citrus or molasses sweetness, and occasional fruity hints like dried fruit or hay.
Overall, it’s a leathery, earthy cigar with a dry, spicy finish—vibrant, memorable, and full of character—where the retrohale amplifies extra pepper and nuttiness.
This is the perfect cigar to pair with a good whisky or a strong rum, perhaps Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof.
