The Plasencia Cigars Story

Plasencia Cigars can trace its roots back to 1865, when Don Eduardo Plasencia emigrated from the Canary Islands to Cuba and began growing tobacco. The family farm thrived in Cuba until 1963, when it was confiscated by Fidel Castro’s regime. Forced to flee, Don Elder Sixto Plasencia and his family escaped to Mexico before settling in Nicaragua in 1965, where they replanted some of their finest seeds. Tragedy struck again in 1978 when Sandinista forces burned their farms, prompting another escape – this time to Honduras. There, Nestor Plasencia entered the cigar industry, laying the groundwork for the family’s future success.

Plasencia Cigars Today

In 1990, the family returned to Nicaragua and resumed the tobacco-growing legacy they had been forced to abandon decades earlier.

Today, Plasencia is one of the largest and most respected tobacco growers and cigar manufacturers in Central America. They control every step of the process – from seed selection to final rolling – giving them unmatched quality control and consistency. While they have long produced cigars for renowned brands such as Rocky Patel, Gurkha, and Alec Bradley, it wasn’t until 2017 that they finally launched their own flagship Plasencia brand to critical acclaim.

The Plasencia Cosecha 151 La Musica Robusto is a flavorful Honduran puro that delivers a rich Christmas fruitcake profile. Notes of baking spices, candied fruit, molasses, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, walnut, and cedar dominate throughout.

It starts creamy and nutty with coffee and light pepper, evolves into deeper dark fruit, chocolate, and spice in the middle, and finishes with toasted oak, rum-barrel sweetness, and lingering spice. Medium to medium-full, smooth, balanced, and complex with excellent transitions.
