The Zino Nicaragua range of cigars is made by Davidoff. It was Zino Davidoff, the “King of Cigars”, who founded Davidoff in 1946 in Switzerland when he released his first cigar, the “Chateau Latour”. By the 1960s, he was so highly regarded that he was approached by the Cuban government to make a range of cigars from Cuban tobacco. Eventually the brand would grown to include pipe tobacco, cigarettes, humidors and a range of luxury accessories. Zino Davidoff was an adventurer and a pioneer in the cigar world. He loved to discover and enjoy life to the fullest. Inspired by his personality, Davidoff have developed a cigar line that reflects his spirit and zest for life.
Zino Nicaragua cigars are made at the Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A. in Honduras, which is a little bit confusing, isn’t it? The “Nicaragua” part of the name derives from the fact that the cigar blend contains imported Nicaraguan filler and binder.
Zino Nicaragua Robusto Cigars are hand rolled and are comprised of a Connecticut Ecuador wrapper with Hybrid 56 Seco binder from Nicaragua. The filler is Olancho Visus from Nicaragua, Ometepe Visus / Jamastran Visus from Honduras and San Vincente Seco and San Vincente Mejorado Seco bith from Dominican Republic.
Pre cut for ease. Smoke time around 20 to 25 minutes.
Also available as single cigars.
From Davidoff:
1/3 – The cigar starts with pronounced notes of fresh pepper, especially in the retrohale. Long lasting aftertaste with notes of cedar wood and coffee.
2/3 – Pepper notes are decreasing and the saltiness is increasing. Flavours of salted nuts, leather and cream are present. The cigar gets more balanced and unveils a creamier character.
3/3 – Incredible how the flavours are evolving again into milk coffee, spices and dark chocolate. The cigar is not increasing in intensity and leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
Try with a rum, preferably Nicaraguan, or a craft beer to complement the sweet and creamy character of the beer.
