Description

Seven Tails XO Brandy is a French brandy. It is the creation of industry veteran and master blender Arnaud de Trabuc (former CEO of Angostura Group and president of Cognac producer Thomas Hine & Company amongst other things) and renowned British bar owner Joel Fraser (The Cufflink Club, Singapore).

The alchemy and importance of blending is at the fore of this aged brandy: it is a blend of Cognacs, Armagnacs and another French brandy from the south of France. The Seven Tails philosophy is the the “sum is greater than the parts”. To this end 7 carefully selected brandies, some younger, some older, have been chosen and each brings their own characteristics to the blend. The brandies that form the Seven Tails XO Brandy blend are:

  1. French brandy aged 3-5 years
  2. Armagnac Ténarèze
  3. Armagnac aged 4 years
  4. Armagnac aged 20 years
  5. Armagnac aged 30 years
  6. Cognac aged 8 years
  7. Cognac aged 10 years

The aged, more sophisticated brandies add body and structure and the younger eaux de vie offer a freshness and vibrancy perfect for mixing in cocktails. After the blend has been created, the brandies, aged between 3 and 30 years old, are finished in Port wine casks which allows a rich depth of flavour, encompassing tasting notes of pecan pie, dried fig, blackberries and toasted vanilla to develop.

Seven Tails XO Brandy features a striking label with the image of a fox, the keeper of the elixir in alchemy iconography. Surrounding the fox are seven icons that symbolize the seven stages of alchemy which guide the philosophy and process of Seven Tails.
