Description

Domaine de la Grolette is located in the heart of the Borderies region, just 30 kms from the town of Cognac, and is owned and run by the Ordonneau family. The Domaine had been owned by the Ordonneau family since the beginning of the last century and their cellars contain Cognacs that have been aged for many years. In 1979 then head of the family, Jacques Ordonneau tragically died anf the four remaining brothers Ordonneau created a new company to keep running the business. At that time, the vines stretched across 22 hectares. In 1993 they bought 4 additional hectares in the community of St Sulpice. By 2011, the estate had grown to 27 hectares of vineyards, producing around 300 hectoliters of eaux-de-vie every year. Today the 33 hectare estate is run by Gerard Ordonneau. Only the finest Cognacs that have been aged between 20 and 30 years old to represent the Cognac Domaine de la Grolette Très Vieille Reserve of the domaine. Cognac AC Borderies has a soil with high clay content with flint giving fatter, fuller-bodied brandies with dried fruit characteristics.
