Cognac Le Reviseur VSOP Petite Champagne is a single estate Cognac.
Cognac Le Reviseur is owned by Francis Abécassis, who is also the owner of Cognac Leyrat and ABK6. Le Reviseur is a single-estate Cognac from the Petite Champagne region. Abécassis states, “I am convinced that blending eaux de vie coming from a Single Estate gives the Cognac inimitable character and depth. To extract the fruit of my terroirs, I have decided to master each step of production on our estates. This is why I have built a highly qualified team whose members fulfil their tasks with the required skills, care and love.”
Cognac Le Reviseur VSOP Petite Champagne comes exclusively from Domaine du Maine Drilhon, a 90 hectare estate in the heart of the Petite Champagne region that was founded in 1850. The east-west position of its vineyards is particularly favourable for producing very aromatic wines. The vineyards are planted on a clay-limestone terroir, rich in chalk and marine fossils. The richness of the soil allows the Ugni-Blanc vines to express themselves fully.
Distillation is carried out in very small stills (1600 litres) and the ageing of the subsequent spirit in dry cellars give powerful Cognacs that reflect the true potential of this terroir recognised for its concentration of aromas. Characteristic fruitiness allied with exceptional roundness makes Le Reviseur Cognacs a product both classical and particularly attractive.
All Le Reviseur Cognacs are aged in 300 to 400 litre Limousin casks and the blender is Simon Palmer. Every step of production is carried out on the estate to guarantee quality.
VSOP, which stands for Very Superior Old Pale, designates a blend of Cognacs in which the youngest brandy has been stored for at least 4 years in cask. Many small producers will age their Cognac in excess of the minimum requirements.
Appearance: Cognac Le Reviseur VSOP is an old gold colour with amber highlights.
Nose: The nose reveals dominant spicy and woody notes. Then quickly come sweet notes with orange peel, candied fruits, to finish with dried fruits and fruit paste.
Palate: The palate is expressive and supple with notes of vanilla wood and liquorice. Roundness, elegance and suppleness.
Finish: Long, fruity, spicy finish.
