Chase Rhubarb and Bramley Apple Gin is a tangy and tart Great British Gin made in Herefordshire at the Chase Distillery. It now forms part of the permanent Chase Gin range alongside the GB Extra Dry and Elegant 48 and their other flavoured gins: the barrel aged Sloe, Seville Orange and Pink Grapefruit and Pomelo.
As far we are aware, Chase Distillery are the only distillery in the UK that actually make their gins from a vodka base that they produce themselves. Most gin producuers use a neutral grain spirit that is bought in. As the the label states, their gins are produced “from field to bottle”.
The base for Chase Rhubarb and Bramley Apple Gin is essentially their GB Extra Dry gin (botanicals include juniper, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, almond, coriander, cardamon, cloves, liquorice and lemon) which is made from a potato vodka base. To this freshly pressed rhubarb and bramley apple juice straight from the Chase farm are added and then re-distilled to make this superb, apply gin.
Chase Rhubarb and Bramley Apple Gin is perfect in a gin and tonic garnished with a few thin slices of bramley apple. Alternatively try with a good cloudy apple juice served over ice.
Chase Rhubarb and Bramley Apple Gin has fresh rhubarb and apple crumble aromas with a hint of cinnamon. The palate is sweet rhubarb meeting crisp, tangy apple, combined with notes of juniper. The finish has more tart fresh rhubarb and warming cinnamon.
