Chase Sloe Gin is an excellent winter warmer which is also at home in all sorts of cocktails. A modern take on a classic liqueur, this is a rich & warming sloe gin that perfectly balances tart sloe berries and sweet mulberries with a long subtle oak finish.
Sloe gin is a decidedly British affair, no other countries seem to have embraced it. The sloes for this flavoured gin are harvested from hedgerows in and around Herefordshire where the Chase Distillery itself is located. The sloe berries, the fruit of the blackthorn, are macerated in Chase GB Gin.
However, Chase Oak Aged Sloe and Mulberry Gin isn’t just your normal Sloe Gin. After the sloes have been macerated in the gin, the sloe gin then has tart, succulent mulberries added and the fruity, flavoured gin is then left to mature for over a year in oak barrels that previously held red wine from the Rhone Valley.
The fruity, tart mulberries and the smokey, red fruit character from the ex red wine cask adds another dimension to this fantastic winter warmer. A rich & warming sloe gin that perfectly balances tart sloe berries and sweet mulberries with a long subtle oak finish.
Perfect on its own, perhaps in a hip flask on a cold winters walk! However this is also good to drink neat, over ice or in gin fizz style cocktails. Try over ice with a zingy lemon tonic.
From Chase Distillery:
Nose: Sweet notes of ripe blackcurrants, redcurrants, stone fruit and rich botanical complexity.
Palate: Smooth and rich mouth-feel with warm rich cassis and plummy stone fruit. Sweet and fresh, balanced with a touch of tartness. Gloriously warming!
Finish: A long finish, with subtle oaky undertones.
