Henners Cloudy Gin is an English gin from Herstmonceux in East Sussex. It is made using spirit distilled from grapes grown at Henners Vineyard and is reminiscent of a “stroll through the English countryside in the full swing of summer”.
Henners Vineyard is locates approximately 4 miles from the coast in the village of Herstmonceux (famous for Herstmonceux Castle) next to the Pevensey Levels Nature Reserve. The 7 acre estate was founded by Lawrence Warr, an ex-Formula One engineer, in 2007. The estate was sold to wine distributor and producer Boutinot in 2017.
Henners Cloudy Gin is a collaboration between Henners winemaker Samantha Bailey an Dr John Walters of the English Spirit Distillery, one of the UK’s finest, small batch contract distillers. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier wines were distilled in copper pot alembic stills at the distillery at Great Yeldham and the resulting spirit is infused with the highest quality, carefully selected botanicals. The botanicals include a fusion of cucumber and freshly-crushed curly leaf parsley which provide a herbaceous base to complement the more traditional juniper and coriander base. There is also a cheeky twist of pink grapefruit peel and lime.
Henners Cloudy Gin is perfectly clear room temperature but when served chilled it becomes cloudy, hence the name.
