Sloe gin is a decidely British affair and the sloes for this are harvested from hedgrows in Herefordshire where the Chase Distillery is located. The sloe berries, the fruit of the blackthorn, are macerated in Williams Gin. However, Williams Aged Sloe Mulberry Gin isn’t just your normal Sloe Gin – after the sloes have been macerated the sloe gin has tart, succulent mulberries added and the flavoured gin is then left to mature for over a year in oak barrels that previously held Châteauneuf du Pape red wine from the Rhone Valley. The fruity, tart mulberries and the smokey, red fruit character from the ex red wine cask adds another dimension to this fantastic winter warmer.
