Leopold Bros Michigan Cherry Whiskey Liqueur is made by the Leopold Bros, a family owned and operated small batch distillery located in Denver, Colorado.
Brothers Todd and Scott Leopold came to distilling after succesfull careers in the brewing and engineering industries respectively. Together, the Leopold Brothers designed and developed a unique distillery in which environmental sustainability is a daily practice, and the art and science of fermentation and distillation is practised at the highest possible level. At Leopold Bros Distillery everything is done site, they malt the barley, mill the grains, ferment the mash mash and distil various spirits. They are quite famous for Silver Tree Vodka and Leopold Bros Gin but they also make quite a large range of liqueurs from all sorts of natural ingredients. No artificial ingredients are used.
Leopold Bros Michigan Cherry Whiskey Liqueur is made using only the very finest Montmorency tart cherries from the Northern reaches of Michigan. These tart cherries are prized the world over, and yet no one else in the world produces a whiskey liqueur with these perfect little stone-fruits. Flavoured whiskies such as this hark back to the prohibition era when distillers would add small amounts of various fruit juices to their illicit whiskies as they were aging to sweeten the whisky and hide any rough edges. Leopold Bros Michigan Cherry Whiskey Liqueur is made by blending cherry juice with their whisky and then ageing it in used bourbon barrels.
