Teichenne Butterscotch Schnapps is an essential ingredient for any cocktails that require an infusion of butterscotch flavour. Teichenne was founded in 1956 by Frenchman Juan Teichenne Seneaux who he set up a winery in the small town of L’Arboc in the Catalan region of Spain. His aim was to make a range of handmade liqueurs. For many years the company produced a wide range of products which were mainly enjoyed locally in Spain. However, when Juan’s son, Joan Teichenne Canals, took over in the 1970s, the company began to promote their products internationally. There was a massive boom in schnappes in the 1980s and Teichenne were in the right place at the right time to take advantage. The company moved to Bellvei del Penedès where a new distillery was built and by the year 2000 was producing over 3 millions litres of alcohol per year. Teichenne Butterscotch Schnappes is made from entirely natural ingredients, as are all their flavoured schnappes (there are now 17 in the range).
