Pisco Capel is a Chilean Pisco, a grape brandy, made in the Elqui Valley, a long narrow strip of land through the Andes where the best Pisco is thought to come from. Chilean Pisco is made from Muscat grapes, sometimes with small amounts of Torontel and Pedro Ximenez. Pisco production dates back to the Spanish Conquistadores who bought grapes from the Canary Islands with them, produced wine, with distillation being the next logical progression. Peru claims the exclusive right to the use of the Pisco label name as an appellation of origin however, for many years, Chile has disputed this and Chilean Pisco is recognised in many parts of the world.
