Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum is a multi award-winning Venezuelan Rum. The beginning of Ron Diplomatico can be traced back to the late 18th century when Don Juancho Nieto Meléndez began experimenting with various beverages and spirits at Hacienda Botucal in the search for new and improved drinks. Don Juancho was fascinated by the subtle complexities of the many environmental factors that affect the rum-making process and carefully studied the production methods employed in Jamaica, which at the time set the world standard for the manufacture and appreciation of rum. He spent much of his time testing out different combinations of different cane juices and wood barrels until he found the one that would define the house style of Ron de Venezuela. Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum is produced in honour of the Don. It is a blend of 20% of light column distilled rums and the house’s reserve (barrels selected by Master Blender Tito Cordero) of the finest heavy rums distilled in artisanal copper pot stills aged for up to 12 years.
