Bumbu XO Rum is the second release from the Bumbu Rum Company. The first release was the Bumbu The Original Rum, their ever popular rum with natural flavours, which has now been joined by a third product, a Rum Cream. Bumbo XO Rum is a natural, unflavoured rum from Panama.
Unlike the Bumbu The Original Rum, which is blended and bottled in Barbados, Bumbo XO Rum is distilled and aged at an a Panamanian distillery, established over 120 years ago, and is made using local sugar cane and pure spring water. The Panamanian distillery was established in 1890 (I am sure a quick web search would bring up the name) and the still itself that is used to distil this rum dates back to 1912. It is a smooth, rich and complex handcrafted rum created from scratch by Bumbu’s master distiller. Bumbu XO Rum is aged for up to up to 18 years through a Solera System in ex Kentucky bourbon barrels and it is then finished in Spanish white oak sherry casks from Andalucia to achieve a beautifully balanced, endlessly sippable rum.
It is presented in Bumbu’s trademark bottle, this time in matte black glass bottle, adorned with a tarnished metal ‘X’ and a map of the Caribbean in silver across the back all sealed with a rustic, Bumbu cork.
Bottled at 40% ABV. No artificial colours or flavours are added.
Bumbu XO Rum has aromas of toffee, toasted oak, and vanilla give way to orange zest, peppery spice and even a hint of coffee on the palate.Aromas of toffee, toasted oak, and vanilla give way to orange zest, peppery spice and even a hint of coffee on the palate.
