Elements 8 Exotic Spiced Rum was first launched in 2010 as the world’s first super premium spiced rum. The rum is “distilled and aged in the oldest distillery in the Windward Islands”. A quick web search would seem to suggest it is made in St Lucia, although the bottle specifies “Product of West Indies”.

Elements 8 Rums is an independent British company, founded in 2006. Their fine rums are the result of eight individual key elements that are carefully crafted together to be in perfect balance and harmony. These 8 key elements are terroir, cane, water, fermentation, distillation, tropical ageing, blending and filtration.

The base Elements 8 Rum is produced by starting with carefully selected sugar cane and is fermented using three different yeast strains and pure rainforest water. Three different stills are used in the process: small batch pot still, continuous column still and uniquely in rum production a Vendome Kentucky Bourbon pot still. All three stills add separate characters and textures to the rums produced. Ageing takes place in once used Bourbon barrels sourced from Buffalo Trace distillery. Aged in the tropics for 3 years (the equivalent of 9 years in Europe). This is a complex blend of 10 rums which are hand blended after maturation. A further period in cask during which ten exotic fruits and spices are added to each barrel and allowed to infuse, including Clove, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Ginger, Nutmeg, Star Anise, Coconut, Orange, Lemon and Honey. No artificial essences are used. The finished rum is filtered through charcoal before bottling into the distinctive tall Elements 8 bottles.
