Mossburn Distillers & Blenders is a brand new Scotch whisky project owned by Marussia Beverage which is part of the empire controlled by Swedish billionaire Frederik Paulsen. The company is headquartered at Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders on the site of the former Jedforest Hotel. Their new distillery, called Reivers Distillery, will be one of the first new distilleries to be built in the Borders for over 150 years. Mossburn have also established Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye, which opened in 2017 (the second distillery on Skye after Highland Park). The parent company also own the Kaikyo Distillery in Japan which produces Hatozaki whiskies. Not content with this, they have also created the peaty Caisteal Chamuis whisky range. The first Mossburn bottlings were released in 2017. Building a whisky distillery and waiting for whisky to come online (the spirit has to be aged for at least 3 years before it can even be called whisky) is a long term project. So, in the meantime, Mossburn have started the ball rolling by bottling a small collection of ever-changing single malt whiskies and two permanent blended malts, an Island and Speyside, with bespoke cask bills. There are also some very limited occasional single cask bottlings.
The Ben Nevis Distillery was established in 1825 by ‘Long John’ McDonald and located at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, in Fort William, Scotland. It was established in 1825 and is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The Japanese company Nikka acquired the distillery in 1989.

Palate – Initial sweet spice with a touch of banana and beeswax, further notes of more tobacco and a light tangy vinosity before a lengthy finish.
Finish – The end result is a rich dram with amplified butterscotch notes.
