Description

Aberlour A’bunadh Batch No 77, bottled at 60.8% ABV.

Aberlour A’bunadh is a premium small-batch, no-age-statement Speyside Single Malt whisky that represents the pinnacle of traditional Scottish whisky craftsmanship. Each limited batch release varies slightly in character and alcoholic strength, but all are meticulously created to deliver a rich and complex flavour profile of moist raisin, homemade fruit cake, and warming spices. This exceptional dram is bottled at natural cask strength (usually between 59% to 61% ABV), resulting in a robust and deeply intense, full-bodied Sherried whisky.

Aberlour Distillery, A Speyside Legend

The Aberlour Distillery stands as a beacon of Scotch whisky production in the heart of Speyside, located in Aberlourtown at the crossings of the rivers Lour and Spey near the rugged peaks of Ben Rinnes.

The original distillery, destroyed in a fire, was rebuilt in 1879 by James Fleming under the guidance of master distillers who understood the importance of traditional methods – this is the date marked on bottles today. Most recently, the distillery was acquired by Pernod Ricard when they took over Campbell Distillers in 1975.

Aberlour: “mouth of the chattering burn”

Aberlour is a Gaelic word meaning “mouth of the chattering burn” (stream). The pristine water source flows from Ben Rinnes, filtered through local peat and granite of the Lour valley before reaching the distillery. This naturally soft water is integral to all stages of production, helping to lend Aberlour whisky its signature smooth, delicate character that defines this exceptional Scottish Highland expression.

An Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish

A’Bunadh owes its extraordinary depth of complexity and rich flavour profile to careful maturation in the finest first-fill Oloroso Sherry butts. It is one of the most heavily sherried single malts available, with the sherry influence lending remarkable softness alongside intense dark fruit flavours, toffee and caramel notes, and subtle nutty undertones.

This award-winning whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled cask strength, preserving every nuance of its character. Aberlour A’Bunadh offers exceptional value among premium cask strength whiskies and makes an ideal special occasion whisky or addition to any serious whisky collection.

Tasting Notes

Aberlour A’Bunadh is a deep, rich amber colour. The nose aromas of mixed spices,  tobacco, cocoa, spiced orange, vanilla, and other notes associated with Oloroso sherry. The palate is rich with more orange notes, dried fruits, ginger and chocolate,  toffee / caramel sherry and oak – it is full–bodied and creamy. The finish is full, strong and intense, long and lingering with a good dollop of sweetness, sherry flavours and more mixed spice.

To Serve
