Benromach 10 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky is a classic Speyside Scotch Whisky with a little touch of peat.

Benromach has a long and varied history. It was founded and built by Duncan MacCallum and F.W. Brickmann in 1898. The first spirit was produced in 1900 and the distillery actually closed the same year due to lack of money. The distillery was re-opened by Harvey McNair & Co in 1911 and continued to produce whiskey until 1983 when the distllery was once again mothballed. The new modern era of Benromach began in 1993 when independent whisky bottlers Gordon and MacPhail took over the site and a new distillery was opened in 1998 with the first bottling of new spirit beginning in 2004 with first 10 year old released in 2014. The Distillery is located near near Forres in Morayshire and is fed with spring water from the Chapelton Springs in the Romach Hills beside Forres, a couple of miles away. The water takes thousands of years to percolate down through the sandstone and granite below the Romach Hills, acquiring its unique ‘Benromach fingerprint’ of minerals on the way.

Benromach 10 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky is crafted by hand (there are 3 distillers), in small batches and the has a light touch of peat smoke, typical of pre-1960s Speyside Malt Whiskies. It is aged in 80% ex Bourbon Barrels, 20% in Sherry hogsheads and then spends a final year in first fill Oloroso sherry casks. The sherry casks are sourced from the bodegas of one of the world’s leading sherry houses in Spain: Williams and Humbert. Ageing takes place in old-fashioned whisky warehouses, long and low with an earthen floor.
