Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva Rum Cask Finish is a Speyside Single Malt Whisky which is aged for 21 years with a 4 month finishing period in oak cask that have previously held Carribean rum. The rum comes from Sancti Spiritus distillery near the Sierra del Escambray in Cuba and adds a distinctive and complex flavour. The Glenfiddich 21 Year Old was originally released 2000 and has had a few incarnations. It was previously labelled at Gran Reserva from 2004 to 2008, then simply as 21 Year Old until in the last year or so it has become labelled as Gran Reserva again. The packaging and presentation has also been beefed up somewhat. Glenfiddich is perhaps one of the most famous of Scotch whiskies, most people will know the name. It is owned and produced by William Grant & Sons in Dufftown, Scotland. The name Glenfiddich translates from the Gaelic as “Valley of the Deer” and explains the presence of the stag logo on Glenfiddich whiskies. A superb whisky with extra layers of intensity, complexity and flavour from the rum finish.
