The Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a smooth, balanced and fruity Speyside Single Malt Whisky. This is labelled as Double Oak and the whisky is aged in American and European oak.

Glenlivet is a distillery near Ballindalloch in Moray, Scotland that produces single malt Scotch whisky. It is the oldest legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet. The distillery was founded in 1824 has operated almost continuously since. Today the distillery is owned by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of the French drinks giant Pernod Ricard. As well as producing a wide range of single malt whiskies under the distillery name it is also used in many of the Chivas blends and Royal Salute Whiskies. It is the best selling single malt Scotch in the USA and 4th in the UK.

The distillery draws water from Josie’s Well and other springs a short distance from the distillery, the barley comes from Crisp Maltings, Portgordon and, lastly, Glenlivet’s stills are lantern shaped with long, narrow necks, all of which help to produce a light tasting spirit. 

Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky its distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character.
