Suave Reposado Tequila is an ultra-premium, single estate, organic Tequila. As a reposado it is aged for 9 months in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels.
Sauve Tequila was founded in 2014 by Cesar Andre and Joseph Varnado who met as they were both working in the agave syrup business. Varnado has since left the leaving the brand in Andre’s capable hands. The tequila is made at the Hacienda de Oro Distillery which is located in the Amatitan, Jalisco. Jaime Villalobos Sauza, a fifth generation tequila maker, is the Master Distiller. Suave Tequila aims to be a sophisticated and elegant spirit and is certified 100% organic and Kosher. It is also certified Additive-Free, meaning it uses no artificial “enhancers” such as sweeteners, colouring or aromas to alter their product. This is a small batch product and only natural, indigenous yeasts are used.
Only the highest quality, organically grown agave, grown for a minimum of 5 years are harvested by the jimadores who trim down the agave to the inner core, then also known as “pinas” or pineapples, carefully removing any stalks. The agave are then processed at the distillery where they are halved and quartered before being steamed in autoclave ovens until the starches are transformed into fermentable sugars. Then the agave are crushed to release the sweet juices which is then fermented in stainless steel using natural yeasts. The resulting alcoholic liquid is then double distilled and only the “heart” of the distillate is retained, this means that Sauve use 8kg of agave to produce 1 litre of tequila (the average is 5kgs). This produces a richer and more complex, high-quality tequila.
As mentioned above, Suave Reposado Tequila is aged (reposado means rested) for 9 months in s in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels.
Each bottle of Suave Reposado Tequila is hand numbered.
