Three Ships 10 Year Old Whisky is considered to be the best South African Whisky. The James Sedgwick Distillery, where Three Ships Whisky is made, is owned by the Distell corporation. It was established in 1886 when Captain James Sedgwick, a purveyor of quality liquor, tobacco and cigars, purchased the distillery in Wellington. Three Ships Whisky is now made at a state-of-the-art distillery in the heart of the Cape Winelands and is very highly regarded as a world-class whisky. Three Ships 10 Year Old Whisky is a very limted release and was only first release in 2003 with a bottling of 6000 bottles – this inaugural release won a gold medal at the 2007 International Wine and Spirit competition.
