Description

Motorhead Single Malt Whisky is made in Sweden by Mackmyra Distillery. This limited edition whisky pays homage to the legendary rock band Motorhead, known for their electrifying performances and timeless hits. The bottle itself features the band’s  iconic logo and imagery. It was first released in 2015 as part of the bands 40th anniversary celebrations and and is produced by Brands For Fans.

It is produced by Mackmyra, but in close conjuction with the band themselves, using Swedish ingedients, at their distillery in located in Mackmyra Bruk. Mackmyra was founded by in 1999 by eight classmates from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with the first commercial whisky coming on stream in 2002. They also use a lot of small 100-litre casks, which produces an exciting, powerful ageing process The Whisky is aged in the Bodås mine, 50 metres down inside the primary rock. Mackmyra Master Distiller Angela D’Orazio says: “Creating a whisky with legendary rock band Motörhead was a dream come true and it’s been a blast. But all good things must come to an end, even a great whisky like this”.

Brands For Fans is a Swedish company which is a leader in marketing and sales of alcoholic beverages produced by and in conjunction with many world-famous artists and bands. There company has collaborated with bands and artists such as Ghost, HammerFall, In Flames, Jonas Åkerlund, Judas Priest, KISS, Motörhead, Rammstein, Scorpions and Slayer.

Motorhead Single Malt Whisky has an oaky and slightly fruity character, characterized by ageing five years in new American oak casks, where parts of the whisky has got a final touch from Oloroso casks the last six months. Bottled, chill-filtered, at 40% ABV, so no cloudiness should occur in the bottle or the glass, if the whisky is served at a lower temperature.

Not to be confused with Motorhead’s American Bourbon and Rye whiskey!
