Meon Valley Cider is a small craft cider producer founded by Nigel Johnson and are located in West Meon. Meon Valley Cider Medium Dry “Brown Trout” is made with a selection of apples which are grown locally in Hampshire and Sussex with some West Country bittersweet apples. The apples are hand-pressed, the juice is cold fermented and the cider is bottled near West Meon. The local apples include the varieties Ashmeads Kernel, Cox and Bramley.
In keeping with the Chalk Stream and Dragonfly labels, the label for the dry cider features a Brown Trout, a common site in the the chalk streams of Hampshire.
Bottled at 6% abv.
Meon Valley Dragonfly Dry cider is an amber coloured cider, it is lightly oaked with aromas and flavours of vanilla, apples, kiwi fruit and caramel notes. It has good bittersweet apple complexity with good tannins and it well balanced with a medium to dry finish.
