Domaine Cauhape is situated in the heart of Jurancon, between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic. Domaine Cauhape’s vineyards cover 40 hectares of slopes with South Eastern exposure. This situation leads to a unique climate influenced by both the nearby mountains and ocean. The soil is a mixture of clay, silica and stone which is perfect for growing the noble varieties of Jurancon, Gros and Petit Manseng. The dessert wines at Cauhapé are principally made from late-harvested Petite Manseng, in this case, harvested in October as the name suggests, though it is picked through several passes of the vineyards. These are shrivelled (‘passilerage’ is the raising of the berries) and have naturally high concentration of sugars. A blend of 70% Gros Manseng and 30% Petit Manseng.
