Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Lysegron (Light Green) is one of three non-alcoholic sparkling teas produced alongside the Bla (more floral) and Lyserod (drier rosé). This classic, fresh and citrusy style is made using high-quality tea leaves and natural ingredients to create unique and refreshing flavours. Combining Nordic innovation and Asian tea tradition these complex sparkling drinks are great for food pairing or as an aperitif.
Copenhagen Sparkling Tea is the brainchild of award-winning sommelier Jacob Kocemba. He first started experimenting with teas in 2010 while working at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark. Despite the restaurant having an extensive wine list of over 1700 bins, there was one particular dessert dish that Jacob could never find a good wine match for. Jacob therefore developed a homemade tea extract to pair with the dish. This blend of different exclusive teas soon became a firm customer favourite. Since then Jacob has been experimenting with many different flavours, teas and processes to create his range of sparkling teas.
Jacob partnered with Bo Sten Hansen in 2017 to establish Copenhagen Sparkling teas. With a history of business development and a keen passion for gastronomy, Bo would guide the partnership to the next level. The company was ideally placed to take advantage of the growing interest in “low and no” alcohol drinks of recent years. As well as the three 0% ABV sparkling teas, the company also produces three low-alcohol products called Vinter, Rod and Gron, all bottled at 5% ABV.
The sparkling teas are made from a blend of up to 13 different organic teas including black, green, white and oolong teas. Teas are sourced from the best plantations around the world including exclusive First Flush Darjeeling and Silver Needle teas. Jacob still hand-brews all the teas to ensure that the correct brewing temperatures and time intervals are used. Each tea is therefore handled individually and each production is made in small batches to ensure no detail is overlooked.
The teas are blended with a dash of white wine or grape must (for the non-alcoholic versions) for natural sweetness and to complement and enhance the flavours of the teas. They also add other natural aromas, like lemon juice, to add just the right notes. There are no artificial additives used. The teas are injected with CO2 in a closed-loop system to add the bubbles and are left to rest for 8-12 weeks before release.
Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Lysegron is made using green tea (8% sencha with added citrus, white tea, herbal tea leaves, grape juice, lemon juice and natural aromas.
