Taylors 1969 Very Old Single Harvest Port is the 6th release in a series of limited edition Tawny Ports released by Taylors when they are 50 years old and would make woulld make a fantastic 50th birthday or anniversary gift in 2019.

Taylors Port have one of the largest holdings of very old cask aged Ports in the Douro. These old Ports are single vintage Ports aged in seasoned oak casks, that is they are single vintage Tawny Ports (which are also known as “Colheita” Ports). Taylors first started releasing some of these older Tawny Port was limited editions when they were 50 years old in 2014 with the 1964 Vintage. 1969 was not a declared vintage for Vintage Port “proper”, so there are no vintage Ports from 1969.

Taylors 1969 Very Old Single Harvest Port is made from grapes harvested in 1969 and has spent many years quietly ageing away in oak cask in Taylor’s cellars. This long period of oak ageing gives this Port its characteristic amber / tawny colour, smooth palate, complex, mellow flavours and rich aromas of dried fruits, nutty character and caramel nuances. As this will only have been bottled recently the Port will not need decanting (it will have been filtered at bottling) and is ready to drink. It is best served slightly chilled, between 12ºC to 16ºC.

The bottle is presented in a classic frosted Taylors Port bottle, in a high quality beech wood box and there are only a very limited number of bottles available worldwide.
