Alpha Box & Dice Rebel Rebel Montepulciano is made from grapes sourced from the Langhorne Creek wine region of South Australia, wine region that received its appellation as an Australian Geographical Indication (AGI) in 1998. The Montepulciano grape variety is most famously grown in the Abruzzo region of central Italy as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo but it would appear it travels well. The Montepulciano grapes are sourced from Kimbolton Vineyards in Langhorne Creek in the Fluerieu Peninsula and the wine is made with 20% whole bunch fermentation and stainless steel fermentation and maturation.
Alpha Box & Dice, as you can probably work out from the funky labels, is a modern collection of wines made by a Dylan and Justin Fairweather and winemaker Sam Berketa. The company was founded in McLaren Vale in 2008 with an unconventional approach to produce interesting and unusual wines with no ‘regional, varietal or stylistic’ boundaries, just great wines from great fruit.

Think of Ned Kelly, Pancho Villa, The Rolling Stones, Kittur Rani Chennamma, William Wallace, Rage Against the Machine, Queen Nanny of the Maroons, James Dean, David Bowie. Angela Davis, Nirvana, Pablo Picasso, Montelpulciano…”
