This appellation takes its name from the famous town of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site located a few miles east of Bordeaux. Its vineyards are some of the oldest and most prestigious of the Bordeaux region. The proportions of the varieties used to make the wine reflect the characteristics of the appellation – 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a vivid and brilliant colour with an attractive ruby tint and a highly refined, complex nose, generously displaying very ripe, jammy, red berry fruit, spice and caramel aromas. the elegant attack reveals a nice tannic structure, silky and distinguished, emphasising the refinement of a mid-palate of blackberry, humus and cherry preserve with a touch of pepper, and building to a smooth, solid finish on which Merlot grown in ideal conditions is able to express all its potential for roundness and charm.
