Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir Couvent des Jacobins is a blend of wine made from grapes sourced from the Burgundy wine-growing regions of wines from the Cote d’Or and the Cote de Beaune. Wines from Saône et Loire (Mercurey, Buxy) and Irancy bring deep tannins whilst wines frome the Cote de Beaune bring more fruitiness to the final blend.
Louis Jadot is one of the largest and most famous wine producers and negociants in the Burgundy wine-growing region. The origins of the company date back to 1859 when the business was fouded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. Over time the company has acquired plots of vines is some of the most prestigious vineyards in the region including Beaune Clos des Ursules, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and many more. Louis Jadot owns or directly controls 120 ha in the Côte d’Or, including over 90 individual vineyard sites, 84ha in the Beaujolais Crus and 18ha in the Mâconnais primarily in Pouilly Fuissé (they own the fantastic Domaine Ferret). Today the business is headed by Pierre-Henry Gagey, son of André Gagey, who was entrusted with the management of Louis Jadot in 1962. Couvent des Jacobins is one of their biggest selling wines.
Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir Couvent des Jacobins is made from grapes sourced from a selection of trusted growers in various different wine-growing areas. Pinot Noir grapes are harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed and then fermented for 2 weeks in open vats. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 9 to 16 months prior to a final blending and bottling by Louis Jadot. This is a wine that can be aged for several years.
The wine is named after the 15th century convent where Jadot used to make its wines until the 1970s.
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Not to be confused with the Couvent des Jacobins St Emilion in Bordeaux.
