Description

Cambria Estate Winery Tepusquet Vineyard Syrah is a single vineyard wine made in the the Santa Maria Valley AVA in northern end of Santa Barbera County.

Cambria Estate has been making wines from some of the finest cool-climates crus of California for over 25 years. The winery is owned by the Jackson family, Barbara Banke and Jess Jackson’s daughters, Katie Jackson and Julia Jackson, grew up among these vines.

Cambria’s Tepusquet Vineyard is located in the easternmost portion of the winery at 400 metres above sea level. It is downward sloping and sheltered from Santa Maria’s prevailing winds. While somewhat protected, this is still a cool location thanks to the influence of the Pacific Ocean. Once the site of a prehistoric river bed, the soils of Tepusquet are sandy, porous and well-draining. The special terroir of the vineyard results in rich, ripe, highly concentrated wines with great balancing acidity.

Cambria Estate Winery Tepusquet Vineyard Syrah is 100% Syrah. After harvest the wine underwent a seven day cold soak (pre-fermentation). After fermentation it is aged for just over a year in 28% new French oak. Winemaker is Denise Shurtleff.

Since 2009, all the grapes from Cambria Estate Vineyard have been certified sustainable under the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance’s Certified California Sustainable Winegrower (CCSW) program.
