Chateau Bernadotte is a wine estate located in the Haut Medoc in the commune of Saint Saveur which borders the Pauillac appellation. The Chateau was acquired by Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in 1997, itself owned by Champagne Louis Roederer. Most recently, in 2012, Chateau Bernadotte was sold by the owner of Pichon Lalande, Champagne Louis Roederer chairman, Frederic Rouzard, to the Chinese King Power Group, the largest duty free importer in Asia. Over the last 15 years or so there have been major investments not only in the Chateau, vat room and cellars but also in the vineyards – this property now has all the facilities required to make great wine. Chateau Bernadotte is classified as a Cru Bourgeois and has some 40 hectares of vines planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Annual production is approximately 18,000 bottles. The 2010 vintage is 50 / 50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (or 52 / 49) depending on what you read!) and is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.rn
