Chateau Croix Mouton, formerly known as Mouton (the name had to be changed because of a lawsuit by Mouton-Rothschild), this is an impressive small estate represented by the immensely talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix.
The Joseph Janoueix Company can claim to be amongst the top in the Libourne area for both the wine trade and the quality of its vineyards and, above all, for the wines they yield year after year. The company owns four châteaux in Saint-Emilion and three in Pomerol. Chateau Croix Mouton comes from a located in the village of Lugon, right near the Dordogne River, west of St Emilion, and on the right bank in Bordeaux.
The vineyard area is 19 hectares and is planted with 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc for the elegance and 5% Petit Verdot. Approximately 2000 cases of this wine are made per vintage. It is a deep, lush wine which really punches above its Bordeaux Supérieur appellation.
